Deep in the Cheia Proviţei forest, in a clearing on the left bank of the Târsa stream, we find a secular beech with a bushy crown. Known by locals as “Copacu ‘ăl Mare” or “Princess’ Beech“, it is said that it guarded the favorite place of rest of Princess Zoe Bibescu-Brâncoveanu, owner of Breaza estate a century and a half ago, or that, earlier, under its branches would have stopped the famous outlaw Iancu Jianu, escaped from the prison of Telega. A scenic hiking trail in circuit gets here. It is currently under marking (red triangle), starts in the town and passes through the valley of Târsa and the Lazu forest – https://www.strava.com/routes/5609129
