Gurga hill Cross
The Heroes’ Cross on Gurga hill was built in 1929 at 743 m altitude, dominating the resort. The monument, a cross with a height of 10 metres, was erected in the memory of the local heroes that gave their lives to fulfill the ideals of national independence and freedom, during the WW1. Since then, Gurga hill was called “Little Caraiman”, resembling its bigger “brother”, Caraiman in Bucegi Massif, on which the Grand Cross of Heroes was errected in 1928.
